TL;DR
Field Service Engineer (Mechanical & Electro-Mechanical Systems): Supporting and maintaining materials testing systems across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho with an accent on equipment calibration, installation, troubleshooting, and customer training. Focus on diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues, commissioning new systems, and delivering reliable field service for industrial customers.

Location: Home-based in Oregon, Washington, or Idaho, with daily travel to customer facilities; approximately 10% routine overnight travel and occasional travel outside the region.

Salary: $34.00–$39.00 per hour

What you will do

  • Perform preventive maintenance, equipment calibration, troubleshooting, repairs, installation, and commissioning at customer facilities.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues in sophisticated testing equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on training to customers.
  • Complete service documentation, field reports, and expense reports.
  • Follow company and customer safety procedures while maintaining professional customer relationships.
  • Travel throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, with occasional additional travel for training, customer support, or special projects.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, electronics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related technical field; military technical experience or trade school training may substitute.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Comfort working with Windows-based computers and technical software.
  • Strong organization, communication, customer service, and independent work skills.

Nice to have

  • Previous field service experience.
  • Maintenance experience with electro-mechanical or servo-hydraulic equipment.
  • Experience with materials testing systems, industrial automation, or controls.
  • Experience delivering hands-on and classroom technical training.
