Summer 2027 Mechanical Engineer Intern - Bachelor's (Austin, TX) (Mechanical Engineering/CAD): Designing mechanical fixtures, tooling, documentation, and build procedures for pilot semiconductor equipment repairs and manufacturing with an accent on NX, GD&T, Teamcenter, and manufacturing-focused design. Focus on debugging hardware builds, controlling parts and drawing revisions, and transitioning complex products into repeatable production solutions.

What you will do

  • Design and release mechanical fixtures and tooling for safe, repeatable pilot builds and repairs.
  • Create documentation, training content, and mechanical build procedures for new product introduction and pilot products.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, test, and manufacturing specialists to debug build issues.
  • Improve legacy documentation and standardize mechanical interfaces.
  • Manage engineering changes, parts, drawings, revisions, and bill-of-materials control.

Requirements

  • Working toward a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Hands-on hardware experience and ability to collaborate in a fast-moving environment.
  • Knowledge of NX, GD&T, model-based design, Teamcenter, part-number creation, and engineering change processes.
  • Understanding of tolerance stack-ups, DFM/DFA, safety, serviceability, and fixture robustness.

Nice to have

  • Experience with automation, robotic arms, end-of-arm tooling, and system integration.
  • Knowledge of Python or ROS for robotics programming.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, motion control, industrial communication protocols, machine vision, AI/ML for optical inspection, or simulation tools.
