TL;DR

HITL Engineering Intern (Aerospace) (Hardware In The Loop): Supporting the design, building, maintenance, and operation of Hardware In The Loop systems and automation tools with an accent on hands-on hardware interaction, debugging, and engineering judgment. Focus on solving real engineering challenges, developing systems and automation, and collaborating across teams in a fast-paced space hardware environment.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning in May or June 2027

Salary: $28 USD per hour

What you will do

Support the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of Hardware In The Loop systems and automation tools.
Interact hands-on with real hardware, incomplete specifications, and failures requiring structured debugging.
Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve practical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Work with mentors and department employees while providing progress updates through regular 1:1 meetings.
Collaborate across teams to deliver development projects and results.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, physics, or mathematics.
At least one semester of study must remain after the internship.
GPA of 3.0 or higher.
At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
Must be able to work full-time on-site in Long Beach for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning in May or June 2027.
For U.S. office roles, must meet applicable ITAR eligibility or authorization requirements.

Nice to have

GPA of 3.5 or higher.
At least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
Knowledge of systems engineering.
Knowledge of mechatronics.
Python experience.
