Writing Associate Producer (Political News)

Location: Hybrid role based in New York, NY, or Washington, D.C.; unrestricted authorization to work in the United States required.

Salary: $75,000–$80,000 per year

What you will do

• Write, edit, and produce vertical video, YouTube programming, social media content, and direct-to-consumer products.
• Develop daily and long-term story pitches responding to political news, breaking news, and special events.
• Create graphics, carousels, thumbnails, scripts, headlines, chyrons, and other editorial copy for digital platforms.
• Adapt compelling moments from linear programming for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other social channels.
• Collaborate with producers, editors, booking teams, graphics, research, digital, and technical operations.
• Ensure content meets standards for accuracy, fairness, nuance, and journalistic integrity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of journalism, television news, digital journalism, social media editing, producing, writing, or comparable newsroom experience.
• Experience editing and producing original digital video, with strong scriptwriting and editorial judgment.
• Strong understanding of major social media platforms, their audiences, and platform-specific publishing tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom and maintain high editorial accuracy.
• Must be able to work in New York, NY, or Washington, D.C., and must have unrestricted U.S. work authorization.
