Sr. Backend Engineer, Ordering (AI): Building and scaling robust APIs for a flagship AI ordering product with an accent on architectural ownership, system reliability, and integration with grocery operations. Focus on defining the next-generation platform roadmap, leading projects from conception to launch, and mentoring junior engineers.
Location: Remote within the United States; remote employees must reside in AL, AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, KY, MA, MI, MT, MO, NV, NJ, NY, NC, OR, PA, TX, WA, UT, VA, or WI.

What you will do
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, robust APIs for the flagship AI ordering product.
- Define architectural decisions and contribute to the roadmap for next-generation ordering systems.
- Partner with Product, Account Management, and engineering teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Contribute to both the next-generation Ordering product and the existing iPad solution.
- Establish testing and release best practices to maintain system reliability.
- Lead projects through the full development lifecycle and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of software development experience.
- Experience leading projects autonomously from conception through launch.
- Ability to learn new technologies and understand complex business systems and dependencies.
- Strong collaboration skills, including participation in team ceremonies, engineering swarms, and constructive code reviews.
Nice to have
- Experience with Agile software delivery.
- Experience using modern AI-powered development tools.
- Experience with TypeScript, cloud technologies, and Azure.
