Software Engineer Backend - AI

Location: Portugal; fully remote

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Build capabilities for creating, configuring, testing, deploying, monitoring, and managing AI agents throughout their lifecycle.
• Develop services for agent orchestration, workflow execution, tools, prompts, knowledge sources, integrations, state, context, permissions, and runtime behavior.
• Integrate large language models and other AI capabilities in partnership with AI/ML engineers.
• Design secure, reliable, observable, and fault-tolerant services with appropriate authentication and authorization controls.
• Collaborate with frontend, UX, product, platform, DevOps, and infrastructure teams from concept through production.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of professional software engineering experience developing backend applications and services.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages and frameworks, with experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, or service-oriented applications.
• Understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and relational or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with scalable production applications, cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and observability.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills in an evolving technical environment.
