Associate Software Developer - AI

Location: United Kingdom; primarily remote with occasional visits to the Bristol or London office

What you will do

• Develop, test, and maintain backend services supporting AI assistants.
• Integrate large language models, enterprise data, APIs, and workflow automation into customer-facing products.
• Build features such as conversation summaries, knowledge assistance, suggested responses, search, task automation, and agent guidance.
• Build and maintain REST APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Implement validation, monitoring, fallback, and human-review mechanisms for AI-powered features.
• Collaborate with product, UX, data, security, QA, and platform teams while participating in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and technical discussions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Knowledge of one or more backend programming languages and associated frameworks.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, software design principles, REST APIs, relational databases, and SQL.
• Familiarity with testing, Git, and collaborative software development practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with a willingness to learn.
• Interest in AI assistants, large language models, conversational AI, or workflow automation.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, LLM APIs, prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, or vector search.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Angular.
• Experience with Agile development, CI/CD, cloud platforms, or DevOps practices.
