Software Developer II (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Develop, test, validate, deploy, maintain, and decommission software throughout its lifecycle.
• Build software for quantum processor calibration, hardware interfaces, operation infrastructure, system testing, and monitoring.
• Improve software reliability, usability, and maintainability through stronger test coverage, documentation, and code architecture.
• Maintain, extend, and optimize custom software tools supporting laboratory operations and interaction between quantum hardware and software.
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting the availability and performance of QPU solvers on the Leap cloud platform.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering physics, electrical or computer engineering, physics, or computer science, with strong aptitude for physics and hardware.
• 2+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Proficiency implementing hardware interfaces and working in a Linux environment.
• Experience with Git, including branching, merging, and pull requests.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• This is a one-year fixed-term position.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of quantum computing concepts, quantum processors, and their operational environments.
• Experience with compiled or multithreaded software development.
• Experience with Common Lisp, Scheme, Clojure, or Scala.
• Experience with Emacs, Docker, Jenkins, SQL, MongoDB, InfluxDB, Grafana, or Redis.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools or building AI-powered engineering solutions.
