Senior Software Engineer, Transport (Quantum Computing)

Location: Oxford, England, United Kingdom; hybrid working with a minimum of two days per week on site.

What you will do

• Build a framework that transforms high-level ion transport specifications into voltage waveform data for runtime execution.
• Synthesize waveforms to control hundreds to thousands of independent DAC channels with runtime parametrisation.
• Support the development of transport solvers and physics simulations.
• Design transport operations for quantum circuits, including calibration and feedforward parameters.
• Develop high-performance data pipelines for complex ion-trap control systems.
• Collaborate with physicists, experimental and theoretical scientists, runtime, FPGA, and electronics teams.

Requirements

• Strong programming skills in a systems programming language and experience with performance-sensitive computing.
• Experience producing and maintaining high-quality production code.
• Familiarity with mathematics and numerical programming, such as Python.
• Experience with Rust or C++; willingness to learn Rust is beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills across software and scientific disciplines.
• Ability to work with rapidly evolving requirements in a highly technical environment.
