Junior Software Engineer (C/C++)

What you will do

• Build and improve the persistence layer of the hirify.global Event Broker.
• Develop new features for the message spool subsystem using C and C++ on Linux.
• Work with multithreading, storage systems, and high-volume message delivery.
• Use Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code reviews, and AI coding assistants.
• Analyze performance, debug complex systems, and improve reliability, scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and learn production systems, storage persistence, distributed systems, and modern development practices.

Requirements

• Ability to learn quickly and use or adopt AI tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor for development, testing, and debugging.
• Independent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field.
• Solid foundation in C or C++ and comfort working in a Linux environment.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for code reviews and Agile collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted development through personal projects or professional work.
• Personal projects or open-source contributions demonstrating independent ownership.
• Modern C++ and the STL, multithreaded programming, or basic concurrency knowledge.
• Experience with debugging or profiling tools such as gdb, valgrind, or perf.
• Familiarity with storage systems, databases, file I/O, distributed systems, or high availability.
