Principal Software Engineer (IAM)

Salary: $135,300–$203,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise-scale IAM and CIAM platforms.
• Act as the technical authority for authentication, authorization, federation, and identity lifecycle management.
• Design secure, scalable, resilient identity services for customers, partners, and internal engineering teams.
• Provide architectural guidance across cross-functional and multi-team initiatives.
• Drive engineering excellence through design reviews, code reviews, mentoring, and engineering standards.
• Improve observability, maintainability, performance, availability, and operational efficiency while evaluating emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including architecture and technical leadership.
• Extensive experience designing, implementing, and operating IAM and CIAM solutions at scale.
• Hands-on experience with Auth0, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Ping Identity, or similar platforms.
• Expert knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, MFA, federation, token-based security, distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native applications.
• Strong communication and cross-team leadership skills, plus familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools.

Nice to have

• Experience leading identity platform migrations, consolidations, or modernization initiatives.
• Experience with Zero Trust, SSO, enterprise federation, cloud infrastructure, containers, and SaaS platforms.
• Experience in regulated or security-focused environments and with security, privacy, compliance, or audit requirements.
• Experience evaluating or promoting AI-enabled development tools and engineering workflows.
