Senior Accountant, Revenue Accounting (SaaS)

Location: Remote, but candidates must be located within the Washington, DC, New York City, or Philadelphia metro areas. Travel up to 10%, including overnight travel.

What you will do

• Manage revenue recognition and billing schedules in NetSuite ARM and Zone Advanced Billing to support monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
• Analyze customer contracts, amendments, renewals, upsells, downsells, terminations, disputes, and credit adjustments under ASC 606.
• Prepare journal entries, technical accounting memos, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
• Support deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, accounts receivable, bad debt reserves, CECL assessments, and commission amortization accounting.
• Partner with Revenue Operations, Order-to-Cash, Sales Operations, Customer Success, FP&A, Legal, and system administrators to resolve transaction and billing-data issues.
• Improve and automate revenue accounting processes, support finance transformation initiatives, and develop reporting on revenue trends and operational performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and financial reporting.
• 2+ years supporting ASC 606 revenue accounting in a SaaS, software, healthcare technology, recurring-revenue, or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, revenue accounting, deferred revenue, contract modifications, commission accounting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivots, lookups, data analysis, and management of large datasets.
• Must be located within the Washington, DC, New York City, or Philadelphia metro areas.

Nice to have

• CPA certification or active progress toward CPA certification.
• Experience in a SaaS, software, technology, or recurring-revenue business.
• Experience with public companies, private equity-backed companies, audits, ERP implementations, finance transformation, or process automation.
• Experience with NetSuite ERP and ARM, Zone Advanced Billing, Salesforce CRM and CPQ, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or other AI-enabled productivity tools.
