Firmware Engineering Manager (Embedded Linux)

Salary: $136,000–$201,000 per year for Engineering Manager I; the range may vary based on level and experience.

What you will do

• Lead complex embedded Linux and RTOS firmware projects for satellite-synchronized network clocks and precise-time products.
• Manage, prioritize, and break down the engineering team’s backlog while maintaining project plans and labor estimates.
• Hire, supervise, mentor, and develop firmware engineering contributors.
• Create design documentation, system specifications, test plans, and test procedures.
• Participate in or moderate peer reviews across designs, documentation, and testing.
• Collaborate with product managers and cross-discipline teams on product concepts, enhancements, and long-term strategy.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of engineering or management experience developing embedded Linux/RTOS firmware with C/C++.
• Experience designing, producing, and supporting successful products or processes.
• Ability to lead projects, develop employees, work cooperatively, and mentor others.
• Strong technical writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Satisfactory background check and negative drug test results required.

Nice to have

• Supervisory experience or training and strong project management skills.
• Experience with Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Git, or Mercurial.
• Experience with test automation and scripting tools such as GoogleTest, CTest, Behave, Python unittest, or Bash.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, cybersecurity practices, CVE analysis, or threat modeling.
• Knowledge of PTP (IEEE 1588), IRIG-B, and precise timing technologies.
