Multimedia Journalist (Spanish/English)

Location: San Jose, California, United States; onsite

Salary: $100,413 per year, plus benefits; compensation follows applicable union rates and the collective bargaining agreement.

What you will do

• Generate story ideas and cover local news in San Jose.
• Gather information, conduct interviews, shoot video, produce reports, and edit assigned stories.
• Present clear, concise, objective reports and develop enterprising stories and sweeps series ideas.
• Establish live shots and work independently in the field under varying weather conditions.
• Publish video, photos, and stories to the website, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
• Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, government officials, local authorities, and viewers.

Requirements

• At least one year of newsroom experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent written and verbal Spanish and English.
• Ability to operate field cameras and newsroom computer systems, and to write, shoot, and edit stories independently.
• Knowledge of iNews, Avid, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, and file-sharing systems is preferred.
• High ethical and journalistic standards, sound news judgment, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays; valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and carry up to 30 pounds for extended periods.
