Lab/Facility Technician II

Location: Richmond, VA, USA

Pay range: $20.35–$28.00 per hour, depending on the hiring locality.

What you will do

• Collect, receive, label, and analyze environmental samples and other hazardous and non-hazardous substances.
• Design and perform laboratory testing according to standard procedures, record observations, and interpret findings.
• Organize chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety requirements.
• Clean, sterilize, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment and maintain equipment records.
• Collect and process hazardous waste at special waste facilities and one-day collection events.
• Check, sort, and exclude hazardous waste loads at landfills and transfer stations.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience using laboratory equipment to conduct tests, perform chemical analyses, and complete routine laboratory tasks.
• Knowledge of soil, groundwater, and gas sample collection procedures and chain-of-custody protocols.
• Knowledge of chemistry or biochemistry and safe handling of chemicals and laboratory equipment.
• Ability to perform tests on hazardous and non-hazardous substances, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• A valid state driver's license may be required at some locations.
