TL;DR
Production Technician II (Aerospace and Defense): Performing mechanical and electrical assembly of wire harnesses, printed circuit boards, and other components from engineering drawings and production documentation with an accent on connector termination, soldering, testing, and IPC-compliant quality control. Focus on interpreting technical schematics, identifying product issues with engineers, maintaining ESD and safety controls, and supporting junior technicians.

Location: Sparks, Nevada, United States; onsite production environment

What you will do

  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly from engineering drawings, manuals, specifications, and production instructions.
  • Terminate coaxial, circular, and D-type connectors; install wiring and wire harnesses according to system requirements and IPC standards.
  • Work with printed circuit boards and other assemblies, including soldering, crimping, continuity testing, and use of standard hand tools.
  • Inspect personal and team assembly work for accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers to identify issues in new products and support product improvements.
  • Maintain ESD controls, safety procedures, quality standards, and an organized production environment while supporting junior technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; a higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • At least 1 year of technician or related experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Basic understanding of technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, manufacturing principles, assembly, soldering, connectors, and hand tools.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Windows and Office, plus the ability to learn specialized in-house applications.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly, use hand tools, stand for extended periods, and work in potentially hazardous or loud environments.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is mandatory.

Nice to have

  • IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications.
  • Circuit card assembly experience with surface-mount and through-hole components.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Training, PPE, and 5S work-environment experience.
  • Military electronic assembly or aerospace, defense, Department of Defense, or U.S. Military experience.
