Vice President of Risk Management & Insurance (Construction)

Location: Falls Church, Virginia, United States

Salary: $160,000–$220,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses and benefits.

What you will do

• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for risk management, insurance, and claims across the organization.
• Set strategy for corporate property, casualty, professional liability, surety, bonding, OCIP/CCIP, and subcontractor default insurance programs.
• Oversee the captive insurance program, governance, funding, broker and carrier relationships, and insurance portfolio management.
• Partner with Operations, Preconstruction, Legal, Safety, and Finance on project risk allocation, contractual risk transfer, and insurance requirements.
• Lead claims strategy, loss-trend analysis, forecasting, reporting, and risk mitigation across business units.
• Build the risk management team and champion risk technology, analytics, and AI-assisted tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• At least 15 years of progressive experience in risk management, insurance, or a related field, preferably in construction.
• Experience managing complex corporate insurance programs, claims, surety and bonding, OCIP/CCIP, subcontractor default insurance, and contractual risk transfer.
• Strong financial, analytical, negotiation, communication, and executive leadership skills.
• Experience working with brokers, carriers, underwriters, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders.

• Professional designation such as CPCU, ARM, or RPLU.
