Associate Principal, Software Engineering: Java

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States. Hybrid work environment with up to 2 days per week of remote work.

Salary: $160,285–$188,100 per year, excluding benefits and potential bonuses.

What you will do

• Develop scalable, resilient hybrid and cloud-based data solutions for financial market clearing and risk activities.
• Design and maintain a Java/Cucumber BDD automation framework with local, feature, and global memory management and Jenkins orchestration.
• Build highly concurrent, multithreaded distributed Java applications using Apache Kafka and JMS for high-throughput, low-latency data pipelines.
• Build and manage Jenkins CI/CD pipelines with Docker and Kubernetes deployments.
• Implement Hibernate caching with JPA/JDBC and develop complex SQL and PL/SQL queries across Oracle, MySQL, and DB2.
• Analyze requirements and project risks, ensure software quality, document implementations, and support production fixes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• At least five years of experience as a software engineer, software developer, or in a related role.
• Professional experience with Java/Cucumber BDD automation, Jenkins, Kafka, JMS, Docker, Kubernetes, Hibernate, JPA/JDBC, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, MySQL, and DB2.
• Ability to collaborate with business analysts, team leads, developers, architects, and product owners.
• Must work from the Chicago-based hybrid arrangement, with up to 40% telecommuting permitted.
