Distinguished Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Buffalo, New York, United States of America; four days onsite at Seneca One Buffalo and one day remote per week

Salary: $167,600–$279,400 annual USD

What you will do

• Shape enterprise-wide software programming and technology strategy as a subject matter expert.
• Design and lead enterprise implementations, including technical architecture, dependencies, deliverables, and acceptance.
• Develop secure, efficient software in Java, Spring Boot, and at least two additional programming languages.
• Drive cloud-native engineering patterns for Azure Kubernetes Service, Istio, Envoy, and Open Policy Agent.
• Lead cross-domain rollouts, quantitative benefit analysis, technology roadmaps, and organizational change.
• Partner with executive leaders, coach engineers, and promote SDLC, risk, audit, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree with at least 11 years of systems analysis or application development experience, or a bachelor’s degree with at least 9 years of relevant experience; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Expert proficiency in at least three programming languages, including Java and Spring Boot.
• Advanced application development, computer engineering, data structures, algorithms, and analytical skills.
• Ability to lead enterprise-wide projects, influence senior stakeholders, and drive complex technical initiatives.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple complex projects, and communicate effectively with technology and business leaders.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Azure, AKS, Istio, Envoy, and Open Policy Agent.
• Experience creating and adopting enterprise technology patterns.
• Experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders and leading enterprise initiatives.
