Staff Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Rockville, Maryland, with a hybrid work environment and defined in-person presence requirements. Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.

Salary: $96,600–$172,800 per year for Rockville, MD.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build structured RESTful APIs and microservices for business-critical applications.
• Implement event-driven workflows and reliable service communication with AWS.
• Develop and deploy cloud-native solutions using ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, and RDS.
• Design data persistence across relational and NoSQL databases, including data modeling and query optimization.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, developer tooling, technical documentation, and system reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline with at least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent training and work experience.
• Experience with system design, object-oriented development, cloud technologies, and data storage technologies.
• Experience in performance tuning, optimization, DevOps, and CI/CD technologies.
• Experience with test automation, unit testing, and software security.
• Ability to collaborate in person and virtually while supporting hirify.global’s mission and values.
