Cost Accounting Manager (Biotech)

Location: Alameda, California, United States; primarily office-based

Salary: $120,500–$171,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
• Perform cost accounting for standard costs, inventory, COGS, reserves, scrap, and inventory variances.
• Review inventory, in-licensing collaboration, and CMC R&D accrual accounts and prepare flux analysis for management reporting.
• Collaborate with Pharmaceutical Supply Chain, FP&A, Alliance Management, and accounting teams to ensure complete and accurate reporting.
• Improve accounting systems and processes and support accounting operations initiatives.
• Oversee audit requests, PBC items, SOX activities, compliance, and staff training.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree with 7 years of related experience, MS/MA degree with 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Experience in auditing, accounting, or cost accounting.
• General knowledge of accounting and finance principles, strong analytical and communication skills, and demonstrated problem-solving ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• CPA or CPA candidacy is preferred.
