Manager Accounting - BSC (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid position in Chicago, Illinois, United States

Salary: $112,800–$155,100 per year, plus an annual bonus of 20% for eligible positions

What you will do

• Oversee an accounting team responsible for recording and reporting financial transactions.
• Lead the monthly and quarterly financial statement close process and ensure accurate, timely accounting records.
• Prepare financial reports, analyze variances and trends, review account reconciliations, and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Support internal and external audits, regulatory reporting, forecasting, planning, and business decision-making.
• Identify and lead process improvements, automation initiatives, and special projects using emerging technologies and analytical tools.
• Manage, mentor, and develop accountants while fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent qualification.
• 7–10 years of related experience, with strong knowledge of accounting theory, FASB/GAAP, and SOX compliance.
• Strong analytical, judgment, documentation, communication, presentation, project management, and team leadership skills.
• Experience improving process efficiency through technology and working with financial data, reports, disclosures, and audit materials.
• Availability for occasional overtime, weekend work, and limited travel.

Nice to have

• MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA certification and public accounting experience.
• Regulatory, utility, FERC, SEC reporting, or energy industry experience.
• Experience with analytical tools and artificial intelligence for process improvement and analysis.
