Sr Lead Software Engineer (Java/AWS)

Location: Kansas City, MO; hybrid schedule with office attendance 2 days per week. The description also references support from New York or New Jersey offices.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 USD annual, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of secure, scalable applications using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and modern engineering practices.
• Design, deploy, and support microservices-based applications across AWS and on-premise environments.
• Containerize services with Docker and modernize legacy applications toward APIs, microservices, and cloud-native platforms.
• Partner with product and business stakeholders on strategic planning, product roadmaps, and technical roadmaps.
• Improve CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and operational reliability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while promoting secure coding, code quality, and Agile delivery practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education and experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and REST APIs.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, EKS, ECS, Fargate, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Understanding of secure coding practices, relational databases, and SQL.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools.
