Java Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: On-site in Southlake, TX or Austin, TX

Salary: USD $52.88–$64.90 per hour, plus eligible bonus or incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Build and evolve the Schwab Customer Identifier, an enterprise identity platform supporting a unified client view.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support highly available enterprise applications.
• Develop distributed applications, REST APIs, event-driven solutions, and cloud-aligned services.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, product partners, and business stakeholders on solution design and technical challenges.
• Improve software performance, reliability, maintainability, and engineering productivity through automation and continuous delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience with Java, Spring Framework, and RESTful API development.
• 2+ years of experience with relational or distributed databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Yugabyte.
• 2+ years of experience with source control, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools, Agile development, and the full software development lifecycle.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven architecture using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
• Experience with real-time data processing, streaming applications, batch processing, data pipelines, Spring Batch, or PySpark.
• Experience owning features from design through production deployment and participating in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design sessions.
• Experience with test automation and production reliability.
