TL;DR
Instrumentation & Electrical Technician (Industrial Electrical): Troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining instrumentation and electrical equipment at a bioprocessing facility with an accent on PLC/DCS I/O, high-voltage systems, motor controls, and process measurement instruments. Focus on calibrating control equipment, solving root-cause electrical issues, supporting plant operations and shutdowns, and maintaining safety and electrical compliance.

Location: On-site in Hanlontown, Iowa, United States. Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts with on-call coverage, including possible nights, weekends, and holidays for emergencies.

What you will do

  • Troubleshoot root causes, repair or replace parts, rewire, and install electrical and instrumentation equipment, conduit, and wiring.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems from 24V DC through 4160V, including motors, breakers, transformers, protective relays, panels, and motor control centers.
  • Troubleshoot PLC/DCS I/O, 4–20 mA loops, 120V and 24V DC I/O, industrial networks, and control circuits.
  • Calibrate, configure, and repair flow, level, pressure, temperature, and pH instruments, valves, and valve actuators.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, compliance checks, inspections, documentation, inventory control, and support scheduled and emergency shutdowns.
  • Assist with electrical procedures, Arc Flash Hazard programs, training, safety compliance, and coordination with management and outside contractors.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in an electrical training program or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of related work experience and experience with three-phase electrical systems up to 4160V.
  • Thorough knowledge of standard electrical equipment and work practices, including motors, breakers, PLCs, transformers, and motor controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret PLC code, schematic wiring, ladder logic, and P&ID process diagrams.
  • Industrial network experience, basic Microsoft Office knowledge, and strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, use PPE and hand tools, lift up to 60 pounds, and pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Nice to have

  • Journeyman or Master electrical license, where applicable.
