Equipment and Controls Technician (Gas Pipelines)

Location: Onsite at NGPL Longview, TX Compressor Station 388, Longview, Texas. Must be able to report to the compressor station within 1 hour of a callout. Monday through Friday with rotating on-call responsibilities, including nights and weekends.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and PLC control systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspection checks on pumps, compressors, drivers, auxiliary equipment, and station control systems.
• Maintain electrical switchgear and power distribution, install conduit and large wire, and terminate circuits up to 480V.
• Conduct advanced engine, compressor, and pump analytical testing and implement improvements based on test results.
• Commission new equipment, install mechanical stainless-steel tubing and fittings, and repair security and intrusion systems.
• Oversee third-party construction and maintenance activities, document work, and correct safety and environmental concerns.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent skills and experience.
• Two to four years of relevant experience, with knowledge of National Electrical Codes, electrical and mechanical diagrams, test instruments, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of process controls, gas processing fundamentals, PLC systems, and safe handling of flammable gases, liquids, and high- and low-pressure systems.
• Must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies, participate in the on-call rotation, and reach the compressor station within one hour of a callout.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability requirements; a commercial driver’s license may be required.
• Ability to speak and understand English and work onsite in Longview, Texas. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb elevated platforms, and work in extreme weather and other demanding conditions.

Nice to have

• Experience with Caterpillar, Worthington, Cooper Bessemer, Clark, Waukesha, Siemens, or Allen Bradley equipment.
• PLC programming and Ladder Logic knowledge.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• Experience as a senior or industrial electrician, mechanical troubleshooter, E&I technician, compression technician, or controls engineer.
