Veterinary Assistant

Location: New York City, United States; onsite clinic work with weekend availability required.

Salary: $21–$30 per hour, with bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses, assess patients, record vital signs, and monitor changes.
• Assist doctors with diagnostics, radiography, treatments, and patient care.
• Prepare and process samples for outside reference laboratories and run in-house laboratory tests.
• Prepare and administer medications and provide basic husbandry and nursing care.
• Work tele-triage shifts when scheduled and help maintain a hospitable clinic environment.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a veterinary assistant.
• Availability to work on Saturday or Sunday.
• Knowledge of medical emergencies and illnesses, patient assessment, nursing care, diagnostics, and medication administration.
• Comfort with computers and online tools.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Strong client communication skills and a collaborative, proactive approach.
