Veterinary Technologist I (Laboratory Animals)

What you will do

• Assess sick, injured, or otherwise compromised laboratory mice under veterinary guidance.
• Perform physical evaluations, identify common clinical conditions, and provide prescribed treatments.
• Monitor treatment response and animal rooms, determining when further clinical or pathology action is required.
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate with research staff.
• Recognize and report adverse events and non-compliance.
• Perform entry-level pharmacy duties, including order fulfillment, inventory maintenance, and preparation of items for sterilization.

Requirements

• BS or AS degree in Animal Science or a related field, or a high school diploma with two years of rodent-handling experience and successful completion of Laboratory Animal Science and Genetics.
• Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with word-processing, spreadsheet, and other software used to record and report activities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including rotating after-hours, holiday, and weekend on-call coverage.
• Ability to travel occasionally and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
