What you will do

• Manage engineers and scientists characterizing photonic devices and optical components for trapped-ion quantum computers.
• Scale physical test and measurement resources to deliver accurate data to development teams on schedule.
• Collaborate on photonic roadmaps, technology development, and advanced research and development.
• Coordinate optical R&D projects from concept through production release.
• Mentor, coach, train, and support the career development of direct-reporting engineers and scientists.
• Lead technical recruiting and retention while implementing quality and requirements-focused R&D practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• At least 5 years of industry experience managing hardware-oriented technical teams.
• At least 2 years of experience managing optics or photonics teams.
• Must be a U.S. Person: a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or a worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of China or Russia unless they are also U.S. citizens.
• Experience with optical projects, optical test and measurement, integrated photonics characterization or design, and automation techniques is relevant to the role.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in optics, applied physics, or a related field.
• Four or more years of experience with optical test and measurement.
• Experience with edge- and grating-coupled integrated photonic measurement systems.
