Test and Validation Engineer (Quantum Computing Hardware)

Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. Candidates must be U.S. Persons. Due to national security requirements, nationals of China or Russia are not eligible unless they are also U.S. citizens.

What you will do

• Develop and validate subsystems for cryogenic and ultra-high-vacuum operation.
• Build and operate prototype test apparatus for cryogenic, vacuum, optical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
• Create test plans defining success criteria, measurement methods, instrumentation, and data-analysis approaches.
• Analyze performance, reliability, and failure modes and communicate conclusions for design and architecture decisions.
• Support prototype testing, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and AMO physics laboratory operations.
• Document test procedures, results, recommendations, equipment maintenance, and safe laboratory practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• At least 4 years of hands-on laboratory experience building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and operating electronic, optical, vacuum, cryogenic, or experimental hardware.
• Must be a U.S. Person: a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or a person granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of China or Russia unless also U.S. citizens.
• Experience designing and executing laboratory tests, analyzing data, and communicating technical conclusions.
• Strong Python skills for data acquisition, automation, analysis, and visualization, alongside clear technical documentation and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Degree in physics, applied physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, optical engineering, aerospace engineering, or systems engineering.
• Experience with cryogenic, ultra-high-vacuum, optical, RF/electrical, precision mechanical, or AMO physics systems.
• Experience designing test fixtures, prototype assemblies, validation experiments, system audits, checkout procedures, or verification activities.
