Director of Engineering - Cloud Compute

Salary: $285,000–$335,000 per year plus bonus; restricted stock units included

What you will do

• Lead cloud compute engineering and define the long-term roadmap and strategy for hirify.global Cloud.
• Guide architecture decisions, design reviews, code reviews, and implementation of scalable IaaS and virtualization capabilities.
• Build reliable GPU compute, VPC, cluster networking, and broader compute offerings for AI companies and enterprise AI teams.
• Scale the engineering organization through onboarding, hiring managers, and team processes.
• Lead hiring and develop strategies to retain and grow engineering talent.

Requirements

• 7+ years of engineering management experience and 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Deep understanding of CPU, GPU, and ASIC compute products and customer workloads.
• Knowledge of hypervisors and virtualization technologies such as KVM, VMware ESXi, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Familiarity with AI/ML workloads and cloud data center compute requirements.
• Experience building scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant distributed systems and application architectures.
• Strong software engineering, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience operating production infrastructure against strict SLOs and SLAs with fleet-wide observability and monitoring.
• Expertise in Linux, configuration management, and deployment automation for large-scale compute fleets.
• Leadership in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and cross-functional organizational growth.
• Open-source or upstream contributions to cloud infrastructure, containerization, or virtualization technologies such as KVM, QEMU, containerd, or Kubernetes.
