Field Technician I

Location: Sophia, West Virginia, United States; onsite field work

SGS provides testing, inspection, and certification services through a global network of offices and laboratories.

What you will do

• Collect product and raw-material samples from containers, vessels, barges, trucks, and rail.
• Label sample containers and paperwork with identification data, location, date, and collection time.
• Deliver samples to the laboratory and perform preparation, reduction, division, screening, and basic physical testing.
• Gather samples at specified locations, processing stages, and time intervals.
• Clean and organize sampling equipment and containers before and after use.
• Follow PPE, safety, internal policy, and procedural requirements while performing field duties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• No prior experience is required unless required by state law.
• Day-shift availability from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; overtime may be required.
• A valid current driver’s license may be required when driving a company vehicle.
• TWIC and a 24-hour MSHA certificate may be required; MSHA training is available.
• Local day travel and occasional overnight travel may be required.
