Senior Field Evaluation Engineer (Electrical Safety)

Location: Remote within the United States, located within reasonable proximity to a major airport. Approximately 60–80% domestic travel with occasional international travel is required.

Salary: $40.00–$50.00 per hour

What you will do

• Lead complex field evaluation projects from scoping through final reporting and approval.
• Evaluate electrical equipment, industrial machinery, control systems, and specialized products at customer sites.
• Interpret electrical codes, installation requirements, product safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop evaluation plans, test procedures, acceptance criteria, and corrective-action recommendations for non-standard products.
• Perform and oversee electrical testing, measurements, inspections, and hazard assessments.
• Act as the primary technical contact for customers and collaborate with inspectors, Authorities Having Jurisdiction, regulators, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• 3–8 years of experience in field evaluations, product safety engineering, electrical inspections, certification, compliance engineering, or a related field.
• Expert knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NFPA standards, building and electrical codes, product safety standards, and conformity assessment processes.
• Experience independently managing complex technical projects, customer relationships, electrical testing, and industry-standard test equipment.
• Strong knowledge of hazard-based safety engineering, risk assessment, technical writing, analysis, and problem-solving.
• Ability to work remotely within the United States, travel extensively, hold a valid driver’s license, and reach customer locations on short notice.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license or Certified Electrical Inspector certification.
• Experience with industrial machinery, control panels, power distribution equipment, automation systems, or hazardous-location equipment.
• Familiarity with international standards and global compliance requirements.
• Experience as a technical lead, reviewer, mentor, or engineering authority.
