TL;DR
Sr Staff Automation Reliability Engineer (Robotics): Owns and scales an automated manufacturing platform across robotics, PLC/controls, conveyance, pneumatics, and electromechanical systems with an accent on reliability strategy, commissioning, and data-driven maintenance. Focus on diagnosing complex multi-disciplinary failures, reducing downtime, developing technicians, and improving automation availability through MTBF, MTTR, and equipment performance analysis.

Location: Secaucus, New Jersey, United States; onsite automated manufacturing environment

Salary: $116,250–$155,000 annual base salary, with potential bonus eligibility

What you will do

  • Own the deployed automated manufacturing platform across robotics, PLC/controls, conveyance, pneumatics, electrical systems, and supporting equipment.
  • Lead specialized automation technicians by establishing technical standards, maintenance strategies, troubleshooting methods, and escalation practices.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex equipment failures and determine mechanical, electrical, controls, software, networking, and integration root causes.
  • Develop reliability programs covering preventive maintenance, critical spares, equipment health, downtime reduction, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with OEMs, integrators, engineering, and operations teams to commission automation, resolve failures, and improve system performance.
  • Use MTBF, MTTR, downtime, failure history, and equipment performance data to prioritize improvements and increase production capacity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of industrial automation experience across robotics, Festo PLCs, controls, electrical systems, conveyance, pneumatics, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience with automation commissioning, equipment integration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial controls architecture, PLC/HMI systems, robotics, safety systems, industrial networks, and automated material handling.
  • Ability to coach technicians, establish technical standards, collaborate with OEMs and engineering teams, and communicate with operations leadership.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

  • Experience with Kuka robotics.
