Automation Controls Specialist (Rockwell PLC)

Location: South Bend, Indiana, USA; onsite work in a multi-level baking or distribution facility

What you will do

• Manage and supervise maintenance activities while providing electrical troubleshooting and industrial controls support.
• Program and support Allen Bradley SLC 500 and Logix 5000 PLCs, PanelView systems, Kinetix servo systems, VFDs, HMIs, and related control equipment.
• Support manufacturing controls networks, including IP addressing, machine switches, VLAN topology, and coordination with plant personnel, engineering, and IT.
• Review plant KPIs and equipment data, lead engineered continuous-improvement solutions, and identify cost savings and cost-avoidance opportunities.
• Lead predictive-maintenance initiatives involving thermography, ultrasonic leak detection, and vibration analysis.
• Maintain control-device backups, software and firmware updates, equipment safety, electrical preventive maintenance, and department budgets.

Requirements

• Ability to work onsite in South Bend, Indiana, USA, including movement through a multi-level operational plant and exposure to machinery and equipment hazards.
• Electrical engineering degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• At least three years of experience in automation, with strong electrical and industrial controls knowledge.
• Experience with Rockwell Controls Software, SLC 500 and Logix 5000 PLCs, PanelView ME Studio, EtherNet/IP networks, Rockwell SE, Historian, Windows systems, and thin clients.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, teamwork, leadership, and training skills; ability to read, write, and communicate in English for work and safety instructions.
• Understanding of mechanical drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, PCs, robotics, controls networks, and industrial safety procedures.

Nice to have

• AutoCAD experience.
• Experience in a food processing plant.
• Knowledge of equipment-specific systems and Rockwell AssetCenter.
