Senior Control Engineer (Onsite - Acton)

Location: On-site at the Acton, Massachusetts, United States plant. The role may require approximately 10% domestic and international travel and occasional support for 24/7 operations.

Annual base salary: $118,700–$178,025, with potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot complex automation issues involving sensors, actuators, networks, safety circuits, and machine vision.
• Develop, implement, and improve PLC, HMI, servo drive, motor, and control-system programs for high-speed assembly, packaging, and process equipment.
• Develop and review wiring diagrams and control logic for new equipment, retrofits, and upgrades.
• Configure and develop machine vision systems for in-process product inspection.
• Provide technical support for continuous improvement and Six Sigma projects in plant operations.
• Plan and execute multiple projects independently in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• Experience with Rockwell Automation Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI systems.
• Knowledge of machine vision systems for in-process product inspection; Keyence or Cognex experience is preferred.
• Hands-on ability to configure, program, and teach ABB robot applications.
• Extensive experience troubleshooting and improving high-volume, high-speed, high-precision manufacturing and assembly equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience; equivalent hands-on experience is accepted.
• Ability to work on-site in Acton, Massachusetts, and support off-hours operations when needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with RSLogix5000, FTView ME/SE, VFDs, servo drives, B&R controls, automation component feeding, and material handling.
• Strong knowledge of servo motion control and robotics.
• Experience with statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, or business intelligence tools such as Spotfire, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Project management, organizational, documentation, communication, and report-writing skills.
