Senior Software Engineer II (AI)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Annual salary: $185,000–$230,000 USD, plus bonus and employee equity.

What you will do

• Build and harden the cloud event pipeline supporting an agentic AI platform and tens of thousands of edge devices.
• Ensure consumer reliability, delivery and ordering guarantees, replay, idempotency, dead-letter handling, and schema enforcement.
• Develop reliable dispatch paths for agent and computer-vision workflows and expose event projections through MCP and agent-facing query interfaces.
• Scale operational hot stores and lakehouse projections while keeping them aligned with access patterns and rebuildable from the event log.
• Own observability, dashboards, alerting, feature flags, and operational support for the platform.
• Partner with edge, data, infrastructure, operations, agent, and computer-vision engineering teams.

Requirements

• 6+ years of production experience building and operating backend or distributed systems at scale.
• Strong systems and API design skills with experience in Go and/or Python.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or a comparable streaming system, including topics, partitions, consumer groups, delivery guarantees, replay, and schema registries.
• Experience hardening production services with SLOs, metrics, alerting, failure handling, and on-call ownership.
• Experience with document or relational stores, object storage or lakehouses, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. U.S. work authorization required.

Nice to have

• Agent-facing or MCP data-access layers and governed query interfaces for autonomous consumers.
• Agent or computer-vision runtime integration, stream-processing frameworks such as Benthos/Bento or Flink, and schema tooling such as Protobuf, Avro, or schema registries.
• Lakehouse production experience with Iceberg, S3, or CDC, and MQTT or IoT ingestion at scale.
