Software Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Onsite in Columbia, Maryland; applicants must reside in the United States at the time of application.

Salary: $114,110–$171,166 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, and optimize infrastructure for AI model inference at scale.
• Build and maintain production AI services and applications, including retrieval-augmented generation, autonomous agents, and emerging AI technologies.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code principles.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and observability for AI services using tools such as APM, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and Prometheus.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, performance, and security across AI platform components.
• Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to junior engineers while driving adoption of new technologies and practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience, or a technical bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
• Experience building and maintaining production systems at scale, including high-volume web applications and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes administration, cloud engineering, systems integration, and CI/CD or DevOps practices.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience implementing observability solutions.
• Ability to work through ambiguity, influence engineering teams, and communicate effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI inference serving technologies such as vLLM or LiteLLM.
• Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain.
• Knowledge of vector databases and embedding systems.
• Experience with high-performance computing or distributed systems.
