Veterinary Assistant

Location: New York; on-site

Salary: $21–$30 per hour, plus bonus opportunities

What you will do

• Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses, assess patients, record vitals, and monitor changes.
• Assist veterinarians with diagnostics, treatments, radiography, and patient care.
• Prepare samples for outside reference laboratories and run in-house laboratory tests.
• Prepare and administer medications as instructed by the veterinarian.
• Provide basic husbandry, nursing care, and compassionate support for pets.
• Work tele-triage shifts when scheduled and help maintain a hospitable clinical environment.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a veterinary assistant.
• Availability to work at least one weekend day, Saturday or Sunday.
• Knowledge of medical emergencies, illnesses, patient assessment, and veterinary nursing procedures.
• Comfort with computers and online tools.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Strong client communication skills and a collaborative, proactive approach.
