R&D Production Test Engineer (Fusion Energy)

What you will do

• Lead magnet and other test campaigns in cryogenic, vacuum, and high-current environments.
• Develop test procedures, instrumentation, controls, and requirements while ensuring data integrity.
• Design, analyze, build, and improve mechanical, electrical, and fluid test equipment and test stands.
• Manage test schedules, budgets, technical documentation, risks, and safety protocols.
• Analyze test data, create custom analysis tools, and present findings to cross-functional teams.
• Lead anomaly investigations and resolution with physicists, engineers, and manufacturing experts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or applied physics.
• At least 2 years of hands-on testing experience, including test stand operation and data collection.
• Experience with test planning, data analysis, test equipment design, electromagnetic fundamentals, and complex-system troubleshooting.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and perform extended periods of typing, climbing, standing, stooping, or sitting.
• Willingness to occasionally travel or work nights, weekends, or on-call shifts.
• Ability to work on-site in an industrial facility with heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.

Nice to have

• Experience with structural FEA software such as ANSYS or COMSOL.
• Experience using NX, Teamcenter, Ignition, Jira, or similar tools.
• Experience with large-scale data collection, manipulation, and analysis.
• Hands-on experience operating complex test stands during long-duration campaigns.
