What you will do

• Lead the development, construction, and operation of a quick-turn cryogenic and ultra-high-vacuum test stand.
• Translate test objectives into sample fixtures, test hardware, and experimental setups with engineers and scientists.
• Define equipment requirements, configure specifications, and assemble systems for cryogenic vacuum chamber control and interfacing.
• Develop and execute test plans involving cryogens, ultra-high vacuum, lasers, and scientific instrumentation.
• Automate hardware control, testing, data acquisition, and data analysis using Python or a related language.
• Build, troubleshoot, document, and analyze test systems and results to support iterative hardware development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience building, integrating, and testing hardware or scientific systems.
• At least 2 years of Python or related programming experience, 3 years of hands-on scientific hardware assembly, and 1 year of test automation experience.
• Experience with one or more of ultra-high-vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, coherent optical systems, or integrated photonics systems.
• Hands-on experience using hand tools, fasteners, electrical wiring, test equipment, and laboratory or cleanroom systems.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to national security requirements, People's Republic of China or Russian nationals must also be U.S. citizens.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in instrumentation, engineering, physics, optical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with optical, mechanical, thermal, cryogenic, or ultra-high-vacuum principles and equipment.
• Experience with 3D CAD, finite element analysis, chemicals and adhesives, laboratory equipment, free-space or fiber optics, lasers, PCB design, soldering, and electrical connectors.
• Experience in laboratory, production, or cleanroom environments with cleanliness and ESD awareness.
