Senior Software Engineer, Device Identity (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid position in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Annual salary: CAD 136,000–187,000, plus equity where applicable, bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and deploy features and services for the core Java-based device identity platform.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to deliver critical engineering initiatives.
• Contribute to technical designs, architectural decisions, engineering standards, and long-term platform scalability.
• Develop maintainable software with comprehensive automated test coverage and improve CI/CD strategies.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
• Use AI coding assistants within the product development lifecycle while maintaining security and code quality standards.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience building scalable, high-performance server-side features with Java and Spring.
• Expertise with high-performance Postgres or MySQL environments, including schema design and query optimization.
• Experience designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs for large-scale systems.
• Strong knowledge of caching, asynchronous processing, multithreading, design patterns, scalability, security engineering, and object-oriented principles.
• Experience with agile development, CI/CD, automated testing, and communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of identity and access management technologies such as FIDO, U2F, WebAuthn, SSO, SAML, OAuth, and federation.
• Cybersecurity knowledge, secure coding experience, or CISSP/Security+ certification.
• Experience with React, gRPC API development, or microservice architecture.
