Digital Forensic Examiner, Mid (Cybersecurity)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia, USA; remote work is available, with occasional work at a Booz Allen or customer facility potentially required.

Salary: $69,400–$158,000 annualized USD

What you will do

• Conduct cyber incident response and digital forensic investigations.
• Collect and analyze forensic images, triage datasets, malware, and logs.
• Identify indicators of compromise, misuse, unauthorized access, and data exfiltration.
• Correlate events from multiple sources to create timeline analyses.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and communicate findings to clients, counsel, leadership, and senior reviewers.
• Complete case documentation, data entry, and other assigned investigative duties.

Requirements

• Experience managing the full life cycle of large-scale and complex investigations.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows and non-Windows systems such as Mac or Linux.
• Experience with scripting or programming, including PowerShell or Python.
• Knowledge of forensic and incident response methodologies, log analysis, malware analysis, and unauthorized activity detection.
• Ability to write detailed reports, communicate findings effectively, prioritize assignments, and work independently in collaborative environments.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice to have

• At least 1 year of experience in incident response or digital forensics.
• Experience with EnCase, FTK, Axiom, Splunk, ELK Stack, open-source forensic tools, mobile devices, or endpoint detection and response tools such as SentinelOne.
• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity; a master’s degree is a plus.
• Relevant certifications such as CCE, EnCE, CFCE, ACE, CISSP, GIAC, GCFE, GCFA, GREM, or GNFA.
