Digital Forensic Analyst I (Cybersecurity)

Location: Baltimore, MD or Rockville, MD, with hybrid work and regular in-office presence; travel for on-site collection efforts and occasional international travel is required.

Salary: $80,000–$120,000 per year.

What you will do

• Perform forensic data collection and basic analysis across mobile devices, computers, servers, email systems, cloud sources, and social media.
• Coordinate with legal teams, client IT departments, project managers, and technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Preserve evidence and manage chain-of-custody practices in accordance with rules of evidence.
• Maintain the forensic toolset, monitor updates, and refine procedures for discovery requirements.
• Document forensic workflows, perform quality checks, and deliver accurate work products to clients.
• Support complex, deadline-driven projects and provide general IT assistance when assigned.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree, preferably in Digital Forensic Science, Computer Science, or Engineering.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience covering forensic scoping, evidence acquisition, and intermediate forensic analysis.
• Experience with industry-standard tools including EnCase, Cellebrite, Oxygen, FTK Imager, MacQuisition, X1 Social Discovery, and Logicube Falcon.
• Knowledge of Mac and Windows filesystems, mobile devices, encryption, cloud and on-premise email, and forensically sound preservation.
• Strong written and verbal communication, troubleshooting, organization, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Willingness to travel regularly on short notice and a valid passport for occasional international travel are required.

Nice to have

• Understanding of the EDRM and litigation-support applications such as Relativity, Concordance, Nuix, or LAW PreDiscovery.
• Industry certification such as EnCE, CCE, CCFE, GCFE, GCFA, CCO, CCPA, or CCME.
• Experience with structured-data analysis, custom scripting, reporting, copy tools, PowerShell, Active Directory, SQL, VB, HTML, or Access.
• Willingness to train other team members and develop secondary resources for larger collection events.
