Digital Forensic Analyst I (Cybersecurity)

Location: Chicago, IL or Detroit, MI, with hybrid/remote work options, regular travel, and an in-office presence at the primary firm office

Salary: $80,000–$120,000 per year

What you will do

• Collect and perform basic forensic analysis of mobile devices, computers, servers, email systems, cloud data, and social media sources.
• Coordinate with legal teams, client IT departments, project managers, and technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Maintain forensic tools, monitor updates, and refine procedures supporting discovery requirements.
• Manage chain-of-custody practices, follow standard operating procedures, and conduct quality checks before client delivery.
• Document forensic workflows and support complex, deadline-driven collection projects, including on-site efforts.
• Train colleagues and troubleshoot unexpected technical issues during collection and analysis.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree, preferably in Digital Forensic Science, Computer Science, or Engineering.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience covering forensic scoping, evidence acquisition, the forensic lifecycle, and intermediate analysis.
• Experience with industry-standard tools including EnCase, Cellebrite, Oxygen, FTK Imager, MacQuisition, X1 Social Discovery, or Logicube Falcon.
• Understanding of Mac and Windows file systems, mobile devices, encryption, cloud and on-premise email, and forensically sound preservation.
• Willingness to travel regularly on short notice and a valid passport for occasional international travel are required.
• Strong communication, documentation, organization, troubleshooting, and independent and collaborative working skills.

Nice to have

• EDRM knowledge and an industry certification such as EnCE, CCE, GCFE, GCFA, CCO, CCPA, or CCME.
• Experience with Relativity, Concordance, Nuix, LAW PreDiscovery, or similar litigation-support applications.
• Structured-data analysis, custom scripting, reporting, PowerShell, Active Directory, SQL, VB, HTML, or Access experience.
