Digital Forensic Analyst I (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid role based in Los Angeles or San Francisco, California, with remote work and regular in-office presence; regular short-notice travel and occasional international travel are required.

Salary: $80,000–$120,000 per year

What you will do

• Perform forensic data collection and basic analysis on mobile devices, computers, servers, email systems, cloud sources, and social media.
• Coordinate with legal teams, client IT departments, project management, and internal specialists to define project scope and complete complex engagements.
• Maintain and evaluate forensic tools, follow standard operating procedures, and refine discovery workflows.
• Manage chain-of-custody practices and quality-check forensic work products before client delivery.
• Document forensic procedures, troubleshoot complex issues, and support larger collection events.
• Develop and train other team members on forensic workflows and tools.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree, preferably in Digital Forensic Science, Computer Science, or Engineering.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience covering forensic scoping, evidence acquisition, the forensic lifecycle, and intermediate-level analysis.
• Experience with industry-standard tools including EnCase, Cellebrite, Oxygen, FTK Imager, MacQuisition, X1 Social Discovery, and Logicube Falcon.
• Understanding of Mac and Windows filesystems, mobile devices, encryption, and forensically sound preservation of cloud and on-premise data.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, attention to detail, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
• Willingness to work extended hours, travel regularly on short notice, and hold a valid passport for occasional international travel.

Nice to have

• Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) knowledge and an industry certification such as EnCE, CCE, CCFE, GCFE, or GCFA.
• Experience with Relativity, Concordance, Nuix, LAW PreDiscovery, or similar litigation support applications.
• Experience analyzing structured data, scripting, data manipulation, SQL, VB, HTML, Access, PowerShell, copy tools, and Active Directory.
