Forensic Mechanical Engineer (Failure Analysis & Accident Reconstruction)

Location: Seattle, WA preferred; alternative U.S. locations may be considered. U.S. Persons only due to ITAR export-control requirements.

Salary: $75,000–$110,000 per year, full time.

What you will do

• Investigate mechanical system and equipment failures across industrial machinery, consumer products, HVAC systems, construction equipment, and workplace safety matters.
• Investigate and reconstruct motor and commercial vehicle collisions.
• Perform vehicle, site, and evidence inspections using 3D scanning technology and software.
• Conduct testing, collect data, and design or build test fixtures to evaluate hardware.
• Prepare technical reports and deliver presentations to clients, prospects, and technical conferences.
• Provide expert testimony and develop technical expertise through continuing education and technical publications.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; bachelor’s degree candidates may be considered.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in at least one state is required; EI/EIT credentials may be considered.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee status, or asylum status in the United States.
• Willingness to work in litigation, evaluate cases and claims, and conduct technical investigations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with safety equipment, machine guarding, machinery, construction equipment, consumer products, or workplace safety is useful.
