Risk Control Forensic Specialist II

Location: Windsor, Connecticut, United States; travel to loss scenes is required.

Annual salary: $114,700–$189,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Support claim leadership in delivering optimal claim outcomes.
• Travel to loss scenes, direct investigative teams, and oversee evidence collection, preservation, witness interviews, and scene analysis.
• Prepare written and verbal reports, conduct research, and provide technical advice to Risk Control, Claims Services, Legal, and Underwriting.
• Provide expert testimony in depositions, trials, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Maintain expertise through conferences, scientific journals, and industry standards organizations such as NFPA, ACS, and ASME.
• Mentor and coach less experienced team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field.
• At least four years of engineering analysis, failure analysis, or scientific problem-solving experience.
• Five years of experience in areas such as fire science, failure analysis, product liability, code evaluation, accident reconstruction, analytical chemistry, or forensic science and engineering.
• Knowledge of forensic investigation, documentation, rules of evidence, scene and laboratory safety, applicable codes, industry standards, and laboratory analysis protocols.
• Understanding of insurance principles, policies, procedures, and the claims process, along with strong written, verbal, critical-thinking, and influencing skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
