Multimedia Journalist - Temp

Location: San Jose, California

Salary: $50.40 per hour, according to applicable union rates and the collective bargaining agreement.

What you will do

• Generate story ideas and cover news across San Jose.
• Gather information, conduct interviews, shoot video, produce reports, and edit assigned stories.
• Present clear, concise, objective reports and develop enterprising stories and sweeps series ideas.
• Establish live shots and work independently in the field under varying weather conditions.
• Publish video, photos, and stories to the website, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
• Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, government officials, local authorities, and viewers.

Requirements

• At least one year of newsroom experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent written and verbal command of Spanish and English.
• Ability to operate newsroom computer systems and applications.
• Advanced knowledge of field cameras, production equipment, and editing systems.
• High ethical and journalistic standards, solid news judgment, and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays; a valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of iNews, Avid, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, and file-sharing systems.
