Weekend Anchor/Multimedia Journalist

Location: Champaign, Illinois, United States; onsite

Salary: $18–$19 per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.

What you will do

• Produce and anchor Saturday and Sunday newscasts, including CTV-to-linear programming.
• Report news three days per week and fill in as an anchor for primary newscasts.
• Produce content for television, internet, mobile, digital, and social media platforms.
• Enterprise and develop daily stories with station management.
• Gather and verify information through interviews, observation, and research while building a network of sources.
• Write and organize stories, determine editorial angles, and deliver compelling live shots and stand-ups.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, or a related field; equivalent experience may substitute.
• At least two years of television anchoring or reporting experience.
• Strong anchoring, reporting, storytelling, vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation.
• Solid news judgment, enterprising skills, leadership qualities, multitasking ability, and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to operate newsroom computer systems and use digital and social media platforms.
• Availability to work weekends is required.
